This Tandoori Tikka Salmon is marinated in a spiced yogurt mixture and roasted or grilled for a smoky, flavorful dish. It’s perfect served with rice, naan, or a fresh salad.
Ingredients:
For the Marinade:
- 4 salmon fillets (skin on or off) (~600g total)
- 1 cup fat-free Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste (or freshly grated ginger)
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste (or minced garlic)
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder (or smoked paprika for a milder version)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil (or neutral oil like avocado or vegetable)
- 1 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi), crushed (optional)
For Garnish & Serving:
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Lemon wedges
- Sliced red onions
- Cucumber slices
- Mint chutney or yogurt raita
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the fat-free Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, salt, mustard oil, and crushed fenugreek leaves (if using).
- Marinate the Salmon:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel.
- Coat the fillets evenly in the marinade, ensuring all sides are well covered.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour (or up to 8 hours for deeper flavor).
- Cook the Salmon:
Oven Method:- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the salmon fillets on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
- For a charred effect, broil for the last 2–3 minutes.
- Preheat a grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F) and grease the grates.
- Place the marinated salmon fillets directly on the grill and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the salmon in a single layer and air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Serve & Garnish:
- Sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
- Serve with lemon wedges, sliced onions, cucumber, and mint chutney or raita.
