Allie’s Grandma’s Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon (or 1 packet) yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup olive oil

Directions for Dough

  1. Put warm water in a bowl, add yeast, feed sugar to the yeast.
  2. When it bubbles (about 10 minutes), add oil.
  3. Combine salt and flour.   Add to the yeast mixture.
  4. Cover with wax paper and then a large dish towel to keep warm.
  5. Let the dough rise for about an hour. 

Preparing Pizza

  1. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface.  Divide dough into thirds (you can divide it into halves or quarters if you want the pizza’s larger or smaller).
  2. Roll out the dough until thin, then transfer to a pizza pan or baking sheet covered with a Silpat or parchment paper.
  3. Top with whatever toppings you want.  Bake at 450 degrees for approximately 15 minutes.
